Wash your pillows. Yes, really.
How to clean pillows
Check the care label, wash two pillows at a time on a gentle warm cycle with a little detergent, rinse twice, then dry fully with cleaner tennis balls in the drum.
Don't wash foam or memory-foam pillows in a machine. Pillows must be completely dry before you sleep on them or mildew can grow. Don't mix bleach into the wash.
Never mix cleaning products. Bleach plus ammonia, vinegar or other acids releases toxic gases. Use one product at a time, rinse between them, ventilate, and unplug appliances before you clean them.
Step by step
- Read the care label (most polyester and some down pillows are machine-washable)
- Wash two at a time on gentle/warm with a small amount of detergent
- Run an extra rinse
- Tumble dry low with two clean tennis balls until fully dry all the way through
