Your oven can clean itself. Here's the safe way.
How to clean an oven with the self clean setting
Pyrolytic ovens heat to around 450-500°C to turn grease to ash. Remove racks, run Self Clean or Pyrolysis, let it cool, and wipe out the ash.
Open a window and keep pets, especially birds, out of the kitchen: the fumes can harm them. Never spray oven cleaner in a self-cleaning oven or before a pyrolytic cycle.
Never mix cleaning products. Bleach plus ammonia, vinegar or other acids releases toxic gases. Use one product at a time, rinse between them, ventilate, and unplug appliances before you clean them.
Step by step
- Remove racks, trays and thermometers unless the manual says they're pyrolytic-safe
- Wipe out loose crumbs and big spills
- Start the Self Clean or Pyrolysis program; the door locks automatically
- Let it cool fully, then wipe the ash with a damp cloth
