How to use the descale mode on a nespresso machine
Most Nespresso machines enter descale mode by holding both buttons (or the lever plus button) for 3 seconds. Run the descaling solution through, then rinse.
Use Nespresso or a compatible descaler only; don't add vinegar on top. Rinse the tank before your next coffee.
Never mix cleaning products. Bleach plus ammonia, vinegar or other acids releases toxic gases. Use one product at a time, rinse between them, ventilate, and unplug appliances before you clean them.
Step by step
- Eject the capsule and empty the drip tray
- Fill the tank with descaling solution and 0.5 l of water
- Hold both buttons for about 3 seconds until they blink fast
- Press to run the solution through, refill with water and run again to rinse
- Exit by holding both buttons again
